Daphne Valerius is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Media & Diversity Center in the Department of Communication at the University of Missouri. Daphne is a producer, professional speaker, journalist, and scholar. She is best known for her award-winning documentary film The Souls of Black Girls. Daphne earned her MA in Journalism from Emerson College and is currently a doctoral student in Communication at the University of Missouri. She conducts research on the representations of women and girls of color in the media. Daphne explores the power of media, technology, and storytelling to shape attitudes and identity.
